I travel through London Heathrow Terminal 3 regularly, simply because my favourite airline Emirates fly’s in and out of there. So I know Terminal 3 very well! While traveling it’s important to know where you can get the healthy food from, especially when you are stuck airside during delays and long stopovers.
So where do I eat when hanging out at Heathrow? Pret A Manger! It is great for salads, sandwiches, soup, cold pressed juices and healthy snacks. It is particularly good for people with dairy/lactose intolerance and the great range of healthy salads are perfect for people who are on a gluten-free diet. In fact, they have a great salad selection for everyone!
Two of my favourite salads would be the Salmon & Baby Kale Super Bowl and the Avocado & Crayfish Salad. both are really tasty and filling.
Pret is also a perfect option to take onboard with you too. That way you know what you are going to have for lunch than gamble with what the airlines are going to give you! And to be honest, I don’t even waste my time with the food from the Airline Lounges either, but instead will grab it from Pret.
The juices are cold pressed and there are some great combinations. One of my favourites is the Green Goodness juice with apple, cucumber, celery spinach, lime and ginger. Its super refreshing!
It is always great to see dairy alternatives like almond milk coming through mainstream cafes. Pret has two tasty almond milks – Banana & Cashew and Cacao & Date.
Also if you are feeling run down from traveling, Pret’s Ginger Shot is the perfect remedy! And for berry lovers, their Berry Shot is a nice mix of blueberry and pomegranate.
I also love that you can get small packets of plain unsalted nuts. They are a great little snack to have on you. And plain unsalted ones are a healthier option compared to the roasted and salted ones you find onboard the plane. And for the Kale fans out there – Pret has Kale Chips!
But, I will warn you there are temptations! So just be smart and don’t be tempted by all the sugar filled sweet treats OK?! Some healthy sweet treat alternatives I would suggest is the dairy-free Coconut Yogurt with cacao nibs, toasted coconut and pecans or the fresh fruit selections with my favourite being the Mango & Lime.
I have tried a few of the other restaurants and cafes in Terminal 3, but Pret is my healthy go to. I know the menu and what to expect! Good, tasty, natural food that is perfect for grabbing on the go between flights. Pret is not only in Terminal 3 but also in all the other Heathrow terminals. Click here to find locations.
Wishing you healthy & happy travels!
